(www.u-blox.com ) Job Description As a fast-growing System Engineering team within Safety Critical Product organization, we are applying our best research and engineering capabilities to new products for which not only positioning performance, but also integrity and safety matters. Nowadays satellite-based positioning technology is widely accepted and integrated within many non-safety-critical tasks in mass-market applications, such as mobile phones and automotive infotainment, and also in some safety-critical tasks within dedicated limited-market applications especially in general aviation. We are pushing the technology further to meet high standards of safety-critical tasks within future automotive mass-market applications aiming to highly automated and autonomous driving.As a (Senior) System Engineer for our Safety Critical Products, you are responsible for system engineering and design of the embedded development platform for our Safety Critical Positioning Products. With your experience and knowledge in the domain of embedded systems development you are the expert for providing the architecture and design of our Development Platforms that are used by both customers and internal teams to evaluate and utilize our safety-critical products. You are familiar with system-level design and architecture of embedded systems considering requirements, constraints, and trade-offs including knowledge about operating systems like kernel configuration, device drivers, kernel-space/user-space interaction, scheduling, etc. You feel responsible for testing, documentation, quality control and maintenance of the source code and you coordinate the support to our application engineers in debugging and providing workarounds of nonconformities. You are able to lead the draft of new technical concepts, evaluate their feasibility and derive specifications. As a member of an international multi-site team of specialized system, software and testing engineers you contribute to the next generation of u-blox’s innovative and competitive safe positioning systems.The position is open in Tampere (FI), Chemnitz (GER) and Hanover (GER)Your Responsibilities: Collaborate with other teams including hardware, software, and test engineering to design, develop, and maintain our Development Platform. Define system requirements, architecture, and interfaces considering factors such as performance, reliability, and safety. Design software components and drivers Lead system integration efforts to ensure the overall performance and safety of the integrated system and its alignment with customer requirements and adherence to relevant industry standards Preparation of technical documentation Your Skills and Experience: Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field. Proven experience in system engineering, embedded systems development, operating systems and/or GNSS receiver technology. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Basic knowledge in GNSS technology and related technologies Programming languages and tools: C/C++, Python Subversion, GIT or other version control software Matlab / Octave Ability to work as a member of bigger projects. Flexible team player. Good communication skills (oral and in writing) in English and corresponding local language Bonus Point (if applicable, not mandatory) Familiarity with safety-critical standards and processes, particularly ISO 26262, and experience working with safety-critical products.
